Do Dreams Come True? (1)

♫When am i gonna be what i wanna be
When am i gonna see what i wanna see
Time is ticking on and i cant wait no more
Do dreams ever come true in this part of this world?♫

Those words are not mine but they are the lyrics of GT the Guitarman. For those who dont know him he is one Nigeria's finest musician. Unfortunately he is not as celebrated as the riff-raffs that has dominated the music industry today (i didnt mention names o).

Recently i decided to put into writing what i intend to achieve within the next two years and i discovered that i still have a long way to go. Ordinarily i would not have done this if not for the fact that my fiancee told me that she would be ready for marriage by next year ending. Initially, i thought next year ending was still far away but boy, after doing a mental calculation i discovered that next year is just around the corner. So i decided to plan and put down what i must have in place before the wedding bells start ringing.

I had on my list, a good car, a good job that pays well (though by my present standards i would rate the job i have now as quite good but i want something better as a family man), a good accomodation (preferably a three bedroom flat for a start) and a fat savings that can take care of 80% of the wedding expenses with a small change left to start family life. Never mind, the remaining 20% of the wedding expenses will come from my family. So after putting all these things down, i thought of how and where the money will come from. If i save half of my salary for the next 18 months, it wont meet up to the expenses i have on ground. So the question is, how do i go about it?

A lot of young men are in the same shoes. We have big dreams and we work and hustle so hard but what we get in return are not worth our efforts and do not measure up to our big desires. Maybe you have once pondered and wondered whether your dreams will come to reality just like GT the guitarman did in his lyrics. Its even more painful when you see your contemporaries live large and you wonder why is your own case different. Maybe you have considered taking short cuts in order to arrive at that your most desired destination. Before you give up, before you consider taking that short route, before you get involved in that shady deal or business, consider the fact that a good number of successful people that we see around today have once been in worse and pathetic situations but they never gave up. They were never afraid to dream big because they had the conviction that dreams do come true. So what is stopping you from dreaming?
